May 2002

Hey Mosquitoes,

What is going on out there? We are really getting into biking season now that it is getting warm and sometimes sunny! It didn’t quite work out that way on the Bud Ride this year. I hear that there was horizontal rain that day and we all love to bike in that kind of weather. I wasn’t around to enjoy it, but Beav can tell you all about the sag wagon. That is probably the first time in history that he has sagged. This time it was probably a great idea. Keep updated on the local rides by signing onto www.cibroc.com . We all know that the Mosquito ride is coming up in Dysart on June 15th. I better see all of you there or else! The details are posted on cibroc if you want to check it out. It will be very similar to last year since it was such a success. Also check out the Mosquito web page just for fun. I was on there for the first time in about a month and couldn’t stop laughing. There are some great memories there. Thanks Klink for a great job. Keep it up.

It is time to get our first set of dues for RAGBRAI this year. I would like to get $60 from all of you at this time. If you aren’t going the whole week, we need $15 per day. If everything goes well, we should be in pretty good financial shape this year. Last year we were hurting due to the tire purchase. It was one of the best things we have ever done. It is so much more relaxing not having to worry about flats. Please send me the dues either by check or paypal. My address is 2970 Winston Circle Marion, IA 52302. The second set of dues will be collected in about a month.

We also need to get the shirts ordered. I believe that we have come up with a motto for 2002. We are doing a take off of the Survivor show. Most people will be familiar with that. Team Mosquito will Out ride, Out drink, and Out suck. Thanks for all of the ideas, they were great! This one has a perfect mix of history and realism in it while retaining a connection with the outside world. Isn’t that a nice analysis? We need the shirt orders in by June 1st. Don’t forget those hard to get Christmas presents. The more we order, the more we save as a group. The team usually ends up losing lots of money on the shirts, so if we get more, the better off we are. Please have those to me via e-mail or snail mail by June 1st. Can you have that done this year Robin and Andy? Just kidding. I just like getting her riled up a bit. The order forms are on the web page. If you can’t get to it, let me know and I can e-mail you one.

On a side note, we will be getting the tattoos, stickers and other multipurpose props for the team. If you have any ideas, pass them along so we can consider them. I also have been talking with Fred Meyer and he is going the whole week this year, but it might be his last. He thinks it might be time to move on with his life. He is with Kent right now trying to hit some strip clubs and sort out his life.

That is all for now so show me the money and talk to you soon.
